War has returned to Europe.
Helsinki Security Forum brings together leaders, foreign policy experts and international media to discuss how this change affects Europe and what kind of role the European north has in this changing geopolitical environment.
The theme of 2022 - Northern European Security Redone.
Northern Security as we have known it is going through a transformation.
The Russian invasion in Ukraine has challenged the entire European security architecture in ways not seen since the end of the Second World War.
The world is now burdened by Russia’s aggressive actions which have exacerbated the relationship between the West and Russia. In this volatile situation, Finland and Sweden have chosen to apply for NATO membership.
As Russian aggression has intensified, Western countries have shown unprecedented unity in their response. The West now needs to seek ways to deter Russia from escalating the crisis and to adjust to the evolving geopolitical environment.
Nowhere else is this change more profound than in the European north – the eastern and northern flank bordering Russia.
In 2022, Helsinki Security Forum focused on the theme of Northern European Security Redone.
The main panels were livestreamed.
